About Post Notes

Post-production has always been one of the core pillars of filmmaking, but as technology evolved, and creativity and possibility expanded, post’s significance as a part of the process grew exponentially. As it’s grown, the need for more experienced and specialized talent has grown with it. The advent of new technologies and desire for fresh ideas has created an even greater demand for creative problem-solvers.

Post Notes was born out of an idea to bridge the gap between educational and professional. Many important aspects of post-production are not taught at colleges or universities, and with the growing reliance on remote workflows, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to get proper “on the job” training. We hope to change that.

We have all heard the term “fix it in post”, but so many people, both in the industry and outside of it, don’t understand the complex and intricate process it takes to do just that.

Post Notes is designed as both an educational and practical tool that explores the techniques, workflows, and creative solutions used by post professionals around the world.

Whether you’re a student learning the post-production process from the ground up, or a working professional needing a reliable and up-to-date resource to problem solve on your own project, Post Notes is here to make the information more accessible.

Who’s Behind Post Notes

Post Notes was created by Kyle Wilson, a veteran Post-Production Producer who built his career in scripted Television.

Originally from the east coast, like many, he came to LA with dreams of becoming an actor. After graduating from the USC School of Theater (now School of Dramatic Arts), he had a chance meeting with a Sony employee, who introduced him to the executives in the TV Post-Production department at Sony Pictures. After landing a studio Post PA job with the team, Kyle discovered an unknown passion for post.

After leaving the studio and jumping show-side, Kyle rose steadily through the post ranks, working on shows for every major studio, network, and streamer in Hollywood.

As a Post Producer, Kyle works at the intersection of the creative, technical, and operational. A perpetual learner, he’s always finding more efficient and creative ways to get the job done.

Having been invited back to the USC School of Cinematic Arts as a speaker during Career Week, he’s had the unique opportunity to discuss Post-Production with current film students. It was there he realized that the majority of students didn’t have a firm grasp on the scope of post in modern film and TV, and quite frankly… didn’t know his job existed! And so, Post Notes was born.
